Gary is a city situated in Deuel County, South Dakota, United States. Gary is located at 44°47′35″N, 96°27′27″W (44.793178, -96.457569) at 1467 feet above the sea level. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km²). As of the census of 2000, there were 231 people, 128 households, and 62 families residing in the city. The population density was 334.5 people per square mile (129.3/km²). The West Branch of the Lac qui Parle River flows through the city.
